其实，蜡梅和梅花既没有亲缘关系，也不是同一个品种。蜡梅是蜡梅科蜡梅属，梅花则是蔷薇科李属。从花期上看，蜡梅比梅花开得更早，开花的时候一般树上还有宿存的褐色果子。
